Blinds & shading for Lonehill homes

What homes in Lonehill are like

Lonehill is built almost entirely around secure, walled complexes and clusters — a short drive down William Nicol from Broadacres and Cedar Lakes, and one of the highest-volume family suburbs on this side of Johannesburg. Stands tend to be smaller and more efficiently laid out than a freestanding Dainfern mansion, but the sheer number of units in any one complex means consistency matters: body corporates want a uniform look from the outside, and families want blinds that hold up to daily use by children.

Most homes here are family-occupied, multi-bedroom units, often with an open-plan living and dining area facing a shared garden or pool — the same sun-control challenge you get everywhere on this side of Joburg, just at higher density.

What we recommend here

Because so many Lonehill homes are family units with young children, cordless and motorised operation is our default recommendation over anything with a dangling chain. Roller blinds — a double roller of blockout and sunscreen — cover the open-plan living areas efficiently and at a price point that works across a full unit. For ground-floor units backing onto a communal garden, sunscreen fabric keeps the privacy up without losing the greenery view.

Body corporate approval

Almost every Lonehill complex has rules about what's visible from outside — awning colour, blind fascia finish, anything on a balcony or patio. We build that into the quote from the start, with spec sheets ready for your body corporate or trustees before installation day.

Before you decide anything: Behind the Wall — the Broadacres & Cedar Lakes Shading Casebook covers the sun path over this belt season by season, and the sectional-title consent rules that govern anything fitted outside the glass in a Lonehill complex. Free, no sign-up — and there is a window schedule in it if you want a budget range first.
