Blinds & shading for Fourways homes

What homes in Fourways are like

Fourways is one of the busiest new-build nodes on this side of Johannesburg, and it shows in the mix of housing stock — established freestanding homes from the '90s and 2000s sitting alongside newer secure clusters and lock-up-and-go estates, many still going up right now. It's also right next door to Broadacres and Cedar Lakes, so the window problems are usually the same ones: open-plan kitchen and living extensions with big folding or sliding glass onto the garden, and second-storey main bedrooms that catch the full morning sun.

Because so much of the stock here is newer or recently renovated, we see a lot of open-plan glass walls that were designed for the view first and the sun control second — which is exactly where we come in.

What we recommend here

For the renovation-heavy pockets of Fourways, roller blinds — usually a double roller pairing blockout and sunscreen — are the practical, cost-effective answer across a full house of new windows. Where a kitchen or living extension has gone full glass wall, an external venetian stops the heat before it's a problem indoors at all. And because Fourways homes so often end up with a wall of individually-controlled blinds, motorisation is usually the difference between blinds that get used every day and blinds that stay open because reaching six separate chains is a chore.

Estate and complex approval

If you're in one of Fourways' many secure complexes or estates, anything visible from outside — awning fabric, external venetian finish, cassette colour — may need sign-off from a body corporate or aesthetics committee. We supply spec sheets and colour swatches with every quote so that submission is a formality, not a delay.

Before you decide anything: Behind the Wall — the Broadacres & Cedar Lakes Shading Casebook works through the same Highveld sun path that crosses Fourways, elevation by elevation, and says what we’d fit on each and why. Free, no sign-up. It also carries a window schedule if you’d rather have a budget range before a visit.
